Creating art is an exploration

I spend a lot of time observing, thinking, percolating ideas.

From fragments of images, gathered material, walks in nature, comes a frenzy of spontaneous creativity. I try not to have too many preconceived ideas so that I remain open to moments of inspiration, even genius.

About Artist Jane Wright

I have painted, potted, quilted, knit, and designed from wire and glass. From concept to finished product, I thrive on solving artistic problems.

Resolving conflicts between vision and materials excites me.

As an artist, I begin with a concept in my mind’s eye. Then, I work through the challenges of the material to a finished work that pleases me. I know it when I get there. Watercolour, clay and glass all involve an element of surrendering control to the medium.

Each time I open the kiln, or see my watercolour when dry, it is a thrill to see my vision brought to life.

Pigments, clay and glass have been made from base earth elements for thousands of years. Each small piece tells its own unique story from its wanderings and previous lives in the world.
