Having been a painter before coming to kiln fired and fused glass I start with an idea and then work through the challenges of the material to a finished work that pleases me. Glass shares with watercolour a fluidity that demands a surrender of control from the artist. Each time I open the kiln it is so exciting to see how the glass has given life to my idea. Creating with recycled glass also appeals to my imagination, each piece tells its own story, each piece is unique. The glass is cut, assembled and fired in a kiln several times to achieve the finished piece. It is a labour intensive process but oh so satisfying.
